Pelosi you ignorant **** (think SNL), you should be tried for treason. You are personally trying to destroy the country for your own agenda. You WANT the gas prices high, because your state gets a percentage of the price in taxes, not just a flat rate.

What you and all your anti-American cronies need to do is get a clue about what each barrel of oil really is used for, and why it's important to start bringing in more in our own country. The excuse of us harming the environment is ridiculous. You really think that Mexico, Cuba, Venezuala, etc, are actually using every measure to protect the environment.

Do your frickin homework, and if you aren't going to bother, then gosh, you can watch TV and learn - find it on, find a copy, whatever, but how abou checking out "Modern Marvels: Secrets of Oil", and maybe you'll actually start getting a grasp on what it's really used for, not just your assumptions. Only 50% of a barrel is used for gasoline, 15% for diesel, and the rest are by-products that are used in our every day lives. And a lot of it can be and is recycled.

Voting to block the bill were 40 Democrats, one independent and three Republicans -- Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, Mike DeWine of Ohio and Bill Frist of Tennessee. Frist, the Senate majority leader, had supported passage, but once the voting numbers became clear, he cast a "no" vote for procedural reasons so that he could bring up the drilling issue for another vote.

Frist can be forgiven in this case for the reasons behind it. But what about the 42 others? Can them.

But opponents say oil drilling is incompatible with environmental protection in the refuge. Moreover, they say, the impact on the U.S. fuel supply would be minimal and would not be seen for years.

That was 3 years ago. Think about how much closer we'd be now if they hadn't listened to environmentalists without thinking about the impact on people.
